Healthier Choices When You're Busy
Time is a precious resource. Once you’ve spent it, it’s gone forever. Their return policy is so strict .
When time is tight, being healthy can be difficult. So I’m always looking for quick and easy ways to eat and drink healthy, specifically when it’s a busy day or week. I’m going to share with you some of my quick and easy tips to eat and drink healthy.
Keep the Bad Foods Out of the House:
Because time is so precious, I like to plan in advance to avoid making bad eating decisions. When the time crunch comes, it’s harder to think through your food decisions. When the kids need to get to school or practice, or you’re late for work, it’s much easier to eat whatever is available to get some calories in and a quick burst of energy. But that quick burst comes at a cost: usually a sudden crash, insulin spike, or a quickly returning appetite because you didn’t eat something nourishing. So keep it out of the house entirely and you won’t have the option in the first place.
Plan for the Time Crunches:
Now I woke up late, or I have back to back meetings at work. I’ve started to avoid bad snacks that are at home. Instead of grabbing something unhealthy on your way to your destination, or having a co-worker grab you whatever they’re getting, keep a good stash of healthy snacks or meals that are quick and easy. Whatever you choose, make sure you choose something that 1) you really enjoy to avoid the temptation of something not as nutritious, and 2) fits your lifestyle.
I drive a lot for work and rarely have access to heating up a meal. So my personal favorites are:
Perfect Bars – Full meal bars, full of healthy fats and protein.
Simple Mills – Almond flour crackers that are low in sugar, and absolutely delicious.
Veggies and Fruit – I love to keep some bananas, avocados, carrots, broccoli florets, and celery on hand. Lots of fiber and delicious.
Midwest Juicery – Our juices are packed with vegetables and just enough fruit to create a delicious, balanced flavor. This gets you 4 servings of veggies and fruit per bottle, and keeps our sugar 40% below all other juices.
Subscribe and save to keep Midwest Juicery at your house. Never miss your veggies. All subscription orders receive 10% off.
Conclusion:
At the end of the day, the goal should be that being healthy is a part of your routine. It’s just what you do every day without thinking of it as work. Getting into the habit of avoiding bad food, keep healthy options on hand that you’re excited to eat or drink, and getting in exercise on a regular basis will surely help! And don’t forgot to get your rest in. I never miss that part.
